Baby & Child Passport Photo
Babies and young children follow the same 2x2 inch photo size as adults, with a few allowances. This tool crops the photo, can replace the background with white, and flags the child-specific rules.
Tip: lay the baby on their back on a plain white sheet and take the photo from above. This gives a plain white background without needing to hold the baby up.
For infants, eyes that are only partly open are acceptable. No hands, arms or other people supporting the child may be visible, and a pacifier must not cover the face.

Editing happens on your device. When you press “Check with AI”, a reduced copy of the photo is sent to our AI check and is not stored.
Safest option: take the photo in front of a plain white wall.
- Face the camera, with a neutral expression
- Even light, no shadows on the face
- Leave space above the head and below the shoulders
- Remove glasses
How it works
- Take the photo on a white sheet. Lay the baby on their back on a plain white sheet and photograph them from above. Choose a photo with the face clear and no hands visible.
- Upload and crop. Fit the head to 50% to 69% of the photo height. Editing and measuring happen in your browser.
- Review and download. Read the child-specific checks, then download a 2x2 inch JPG or a 4x6 inch print sheet.

Frequently asked questions
Can a baby's eyes be partly open in a passport photo?
Yes. For infants, eyes that are only partly open are acceptable.
Can a parent hold the baby in the photo?
Not in a way that shows. Hands, arms or other people supporting the child must not be visible in the photo.
Can my child have a pacifier in the photo?
A pacifier must not cover the face. Nothing may cover the child's face.
Is my photo uploaded or stored?
Editing and measuring happen in your browser. The AI check runs only when you press “Check with AI”: a reduced copy of the photo is then sent to our server and an AI provider for analysis, and Passport911 does not store it.
Does a passing result mean my photo will be accepted?
No. Passport911 checks your photo against published requirements, but final acceptance is decided by the issuing agency.
